Disney Channel In Person

For Saturday, April 9, 2011:
On Saturday I was working out at greeter, parking strollers and what not. One of my friends who works in Fantasyland said she saw Selena Gomez (from Disney's Wizards of Waverly Place). She said Selena was polite, unlike most celebrities we get in the park.

Well that means I was on super secret lookout for her. It wasn't long until I saw some plaid from the Guest Relations cast member walking toward me. Who was behind him? Selena Gomez along with some of her family members. She skipped Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage but I still got to see her.

I love that she still comes to the parks and is nice in person. So unlike Miley.

I Missed One

For Thursday, March 24, 2011

Nothing new on Thursday. I missed Sandra Oh from ABC's Grey's Anatomy came to the ol' Submarine Voyage. I'm sure the Grey's fans out there would have loved to see her.

I'm started to get sick again on Thursday. I have a new nasty cough and my head hurts all the time. I hope this goes away soon. Someone told me that all the sicknesses of the world come to Disneyland, so I will be sick a lot. Can't wait.

Day Off? I'm going to DCA!

For Thursday, March, 16, 2011
For one of my days off I went to California Adventure with some friends. It was crowded but a lot of fun. While we were in Downtown Disney Distract we ran into Kevin Nealon. You might recognize him from Saturday Night Live, a bunch of Adam Sandler movies, and most recently on Weeds.
Other than that, it was just a normal day.

Waking Sleeping Beauty

WARNING: THIS IS FOR TRUE DISNEY FANS ONLY. SORRY TO BORE THE REST OF YOU.
The other day why waiting for class to begin, they were playing a documentary over the projector. It was called Waking Sleeping Beauty.
Waking Sleeping Beauty is a film which documents the history of Walt Disney Feature Animation from the making of The Fox and the Hound in 1980 to the release of The Lion King in 1994. The film covers the rise and fall of Disney's animation division and the newfound success the studio had with the releases of The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King (basically the movies I grew up with) during the midst of the so-called Disney Renaissance. The time has young people who were just starting their careers, such as John Lassetter (currently the chief creative officer at Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios and Principal Creative Advisor for Walt Disney Imagineering), Tim Burton, and Michael Eisner (former CEO of Disney). If you love Disney movies I suggest you watch this documentary. Which you can borrow from me because I bought it on Amazon.

I had to post this because I didn't do anything fun today. I heard Topher Grace and the members of Blink 182 were in the park, but I did not see them.

School of Rock

So, when I got to work yesterday I was told there was a celebrity that was in a sub and about to leave . Who was it?
Mr. Jack Black! Sporting a nice Hawaiian shirt. Jack Black donated $10,000 to the Tonasket High School Band from Tonasket, Washington to help cover their travel expenses to the Happiest Place on Earth and he showed up to cheer them on! Why to go Jack, supporting the arts in schools!

Paul Rudd with the Lights On

While at work today I was grouping people into the lines for the submarines and who walks up? Paul Rudd with his wife and son (and a Disneyland plaid Guest Relations Cast Member)! No way! I even told him what row to go into! I love this job!

Tonight there was a special College Program riding of Space Mountain with the lights on. We met at Space after the park closed and they let us ride it first with the lights on to see how it normally is. After we all rode it that way we rode it with the lights on. It seemed faster to me with the lights on, but less exciting because you could see where you were going. Here is a video someone took a few years ago with the lights on.

Nicolas and Nicholas

PS- I didn't talk about the Oscar's! I was at work for most of it, but I was able to catch the last hour. Disney had a few wins with Costume Design and Art Direction for Alice in Wonderland and Original Song: "We Belong Together" and Best Animated Film for Toy Story 3! I'm going to have to see The King's Speech (which won Best Picture) to judge it for myself. Oh, I'm glad Natalie Portman won Best Actress for Black Swan. She was amazing in that.

Mr. Big Daddy Himself

Due to the fact I'm tired and have to work early tomorrow morning I'm going to keep this short. Today started as a normal work day. I left and went to on my break. When I came back I noticed someone in plaid from Guest Relations hanging around the que. I know what that means; a celebrity is here.
"Guess who's in this sub coming in right now."
"No idea."
"Adam Sander. Adam Sander is in that submarine right now."

About 2 seconds later out steps Adam Sander with his wife and kids. I thought it was cool because he walked out of the main exit instead of the side exit that most celebrities use to avoid crowds. The guests in the line went CRAZY! They started cheering and clapping. Everyone was talking pictures. As we was walking out he was smiling and saying hello to fans. He even stopped to talk to a small child. He was really down to earth. Most definitely the coolest and most down to Earth celebrity I've seen so far.

A Day of Glee and Screaming

First, I had to miss Glee yesterday because I was at work, so I'm currently watching that episode now. The commercial for Chevy with the Glee kids was great!

On another note, Dot-Marie Jones who plays Coach Beiste on Glee was at Disneyland Park today! However I was in a submarine and no one bothered to tell me, so I didn't get to see her. Mad I missed that one.

Tomorrow is the 10th anniversary of Disney California Adventure! So to celebrate they have been doing fun things for resort cast members all week. Tonight, after the park closed, cast members got to ride Twilight Zone: Tower of Terror. But instead of the normal terror amount they turned off all the sound on the attraction for extra terror; no music, no special sound effects, nothing. The best part was we got to ride it three times with no line!

Just Another Day in the Celebrityland

After you pass your training at Disney you have to call in to get what time you work each day (for the first week or two until they officially put you on the schedule). So I called the Tomorrowland office this morning around 8:30am and they asked me to be at work by 9:45. Because I take the bus, I had to rush to get ready and make it to the bus so I can get there on time. The worst thing to see is the back of the OCTA bus when you are in a time crunch.

Once I got to work I had to count people into rows for each sub for the first few hours today. What did I learn? I can't divide guests into 4 rows of 20 without losing count. It's harder than you think people.
Anyway, as I was counting people I saw a woman in plaid come up the exit ramp with a family. When ever you see someone dressed like this:
You know that they are from Guest Relations escorting a VIP. Who was the family with this escort you ask?

I Can Drive the Sub

I know a lot of you have not seen me in a whole so here is a video I made walking to the bus today:

Good news! I passed my driving test. While I won't be driving a car while I'm here, I have my license to  drive a real submarine! I had my driving test and I passed so I can now drive all alone. I have had to drive the different subs (there are 8 in total) to learn how each of them handle. Each one drives a little different; some go super fast in the lagoon, some go slow in the waterfalls, all kinds of things. I still have one day of training left on Sunday. I'm not sure what I'll be working on that day since I'm pretty much the best submarine driver ever.

One pretty exciting thing that happened is Heidi Klum, Seal, and family came to ride Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage today! I didn't even know it was them until someone told me. In training we were told a lit of celebrities come into the park. I can't wait to see more famous people!
Here they are last June
No plans for tomorrow. Maybe something exciting.
