Best Day Ever

For Tuesday, April 27, 2011:

I was off on Tuesday and got to sleep in, which I loved. Then my friend Holly came and woke me and my roommates up and told us she was going to the pool at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and Spa. Her friend is a life guard there and got approval to bring us along. It was beautiful, I mean after all the Grand Californian is a 4 Diamond hotel.
Here you can see 2 of the 3 pools and 2 hot tubs.
Holly, Me, and Britney the lifeguard.
After that, the College Program had us tickets to go to a Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim game. Before the game, Kristen and I went to buy Angels shirts so we could represent. Included with out free tickets where free hats and calendars. It was cool hanging out with all the college kids at the game and getting free stuff. And the Halos won!
FUN FACT: Disney made a movie you may remember called Angels in the Outfield that centered on the team. They later lead to them owning the Anaheim Angels from 1996-2004.

After the game, we went with some college program kids and some people from work to a rock climbing place. Someone in the program works there so he let us come for free after hours. As we know, I hate working out, but when you trick me into something like rock climbing it's not so bad. It was so much fun. I want to do that again.

All Caught Up

For Tuesday, April 5, 2011:
I was off yesterday and I did nothing the whole day. I just sat on the couch/bed/chair and caught up on all my favorite shows. I even watched a documentary called The Boys: The Sherman Brothers' Story. If you don't know who they are, you definitely know their music; Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Jungle Book, The Sword in the Stone, The Aristcats, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Snoopy Come Home, "The Tiki Tiki Tiki Room" for The Enchanted Tiki Room, "There is a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" for the Carousel of Progress and Innoventions, and who could forget the theme to "it's a small world." There are many more, but these are my favorites. The documentary was great, I'm glad it was on Netflix.
Other than that, I didn't really do much. I love days off.

Costco vs Sam's

For Wednesday, March 23, 2011

I was off again on Wednesday. My roommate Mike took me and Matt shopping so we can get some food and things.
First we went to the "99 Cent Only Store." This was a dollar store on crack. They had everything you could ever need; fresh produce, food, candy, cleaning supplies. Between us all we spent $150 at the frickng dollar store!
Mike is a member at Costco. I had never been to a Costco before, but really it's the same thing as a Sam's Club. It even had the same floor plan as Sam's. We got a year supply of laundry detergent, dish shop, and food. It was a good day for shopping.
It was raining again today so we had to run with all our grocery bags from the car. It was gross.

Rules of Engagement Taping

For Tuesday, March 22, 2011

So I haven't told a lot of you guys, but I went to an audition for the Aladdin musical that's at California Adventure. The audition was in Hollywood, so I took the bus/train. They were looking for someone who was older and my audition was terrible so I didn't get a call back. However it was good audition experience and now I know how Disney runs their auditions.

After the audition, the College Program got some of us tickets to see a taping of the tv show Rules of Engagement over at the Sony Entertainment Studios . The show stars David Spade and Patrick Warburton. It was cool to see who they actually film the show. We were told to laugh even if we thought it was just a little funny. It's amazing how much they can cram into one of those soundstages.

The episode was shot in order, from beginning to end, and the cast and crew moved across the soundstage as the scenes of the episode moved back and forth along with all of equipment that needed to follow them was astounding.

There was a comedian who was in charge of warming up the audience and keeping them engaged. He was great. He worked the entire crowd, but once he found out we worked at Disneyland he played around with us. When ever there was break in scenes he they would play songs from "Main Street Electrical Parade", Pirates of the Caribbean, Mickey Mouse Club and ask us trivia questions about Disney. He himself was even in a few Disney Channel Original Movies. It was a great day. I want to see more tapings of shows!
This is the comedian entertaining us in front of the Rules of Engagement set.

Nothing to Do

So I had nothing to do today. My original goal was to call and get standby tickets to see a taping of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. However when I called, Ellen had not cleared out her voice mail, so I could not leave a message to get tickets. I'll try again another day I guess.

Answer your phone, Ellen!
After laying around and surfing channels for a while I happened to find High School Musical 1 and 2 on Disney Channel, so that kept me busy for a while.

Jase was also off today, and since we were both bored we decided to go shopping for bikes. We looked all over the place. What did we discover? Bikes are expensive. Maybe I'll get one another day.
Bikes starting at $400!
While we were out we passed two (count them, two) Chick-fil-As. This gave me an idea. On my next day off I will venture to a Chick-fil-A and test it. First I will be looking to see if the entire restaurant is clean and the entire staff is friendly. Everyone should be smiling and I better hear some 'My pleasures' in there. Then will be the ultimate test: are the waffle fries crisp and does the Original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich have that magic, sprinkled in addictive cocaine taste. Oh, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. If only I could find a Waffle House for a late night snack.
Just wait until Friday, Chick-fil-A

PS- Lets Skype, I miss some of you guys. My username is nsostillio.
