And I Don't Think I'll Ever Make it On Time

For Monday, April 4, 2011:
Day three of going to work early. Had to get on the bus at 7:00am. Way to early. After work, I took a much needed nap.

So I have started playing Angry Birds on my phone. I think that is a stupid name. They should call it angry people because I get so angry at those stupid, little, green pig things.

And the 'larm Gives Out a Warning...

For Sunday, April 3:
Day 2 of waking up early. My friend Kristen let me and her roommate borrow her car to take to work. It was amazing because we didn't have to ride that gross. This was the first time I have drove since I've been in California, and man do I miss it. Disneyland is so close when you don't have to take the smelly bus. And afterwords we went to Walmart and I went shopping and spent way to much money, but I never get to go to Walmart anymore.

Drunk Man at the Bus

I did not have to work until late afternoon, so I woke up and cooked me a lunch I could pack for my break and headed down to the bus station. While sitting, waiting on the bus with a few fellow cast members, playing on my phone like normal, I see a 25ish old man drunkenly walk toward the bus station. Here is the conversation that took place:

Drunk: Dudddde, sup bro.
Me: Hey....
Drunk: I'mmmm gonnnna sit next to yooooooou.
Me: Umm... (as he misses the bench and lands on the ground. As he falls we hear bottles in his bag crash.)
Drunk: Duuuude. I'm tryin to gets to the beach. I need the 42 bus.
Me: Well, this is the stop for 43. 42 is down there (I point to the next block.)
Drunk: I gots (hiccup) a map in my bag. Hold on bra. (He pulls out his bag and searches for the map. As he does this he finds a thing of pills and pops one.) I have to find me friends house. He lives in Huntington Beach. Hows do I get there? (He shows me a map that is covered in vodka). I need the 42, see it bra?
Me: Oh let me look. Yeah it's over there.
Drunk: You sure dude? I'm from North Carooooolina, I needs to gos to my buds at the beach. Dude, I'm so drunk right now. Where's the 42? My names Spencer/
Me: Well I'm Nic. That way to the beach. (Pointing again to the 42.)
Drunk: I like your Ray-Bans. I got some for my (hiccup) pops like that. The 42 is this way? Ok. Bye bra.
Me: Be safe dude.

Work was pretty normal. I got to drive a lot, which I liked. I noticed there was a lot of water under the windows in the submarine and I thought they were leaking. Turns out it was condensation. No biggie.\

Sorry no pictures today. I'll work on it tomorrow.

A Good Day for Chick-fil-A

I took the bus to the neighboring town of Orange, California. That is the closest Chick-fil-A.

That's right, today is the day I gave a west coast Chick-fil-A to see if it was (1) Clean, (2) Friendly, and (3) amazingly good. Wow did they pass. The whole restaurant was clean and the condiment bar was fully stocked (only they did not have any 'kid' bendy straws or mints, but I'll let that pass.) There was a woman who walked around offering refills just like at home. They even remembered my name when I went back to get a milkshake. Then came the food; did it have that amazing, juicy, crunch? Were the waffle fries hot and evenly salted? Hell yes they were. Just look at how delicious it was! This visit to Chick-fil-A sure did make me miss Georgia. I'll just be sure to give them a visit when I'm felling home sick.

I had to buy stamps today. They gave me those ugly bell ones, because they were sold out of the cool Disney-Pixar ones. Stupid USPS.
I got these...
and not these like I wanted.
Once Jase got off we went to find houses that are used on TV shows. We found all three houses from ABC's Modern Family. These pictures suck. My camera did not take good pictures in the dark.

The best part of the night is we went to find TV's most recognizable house: The house from The Brady Bunch! There are only a few differences from the 70s to now. The false window on the second floor is not there, there is now a new fence around the property, and the house is a new color. Other than that it looks just like the Brady's still live there!

As it was on The Brady Bunch

Starting tomorrow, I will only be posting my blogs on Facebook and Twitter on Mondays. I didn't want to annoy my friends by posting the blogs on there everyday. So bookmark my blog now, nicatdisney.com!

Workin on My Winter Tan

After I posted my blog last night I went to Disneyland Park to see the new projection show called "The Music, the Memoeries, and You" projected onto the façade of it’s a small world. Here is a promotional video because I forgot to record it.

Then today I did not have anything to do. I got to sleep in! After seeing how beautiful it was out side I decided to go to the beach. After Googling it I found the closest beach was Huntington Beach, about thirty miles away. I had to look up the bus schedule, because this was uncharted territory. The bus ride was not too bad, sort of long though.

Once I got to the beach it was deserted. There were a few people surfing on the huge waves and a few riding bikes, but other than that it was dead. So I found a good spot where I could work on my winter tan (God knows I'm white). I read a book that Ms. India Winslow gave me before I left called How to Be Like Walt. It's a pretty cool because it is about Walt Disney's life and talks about how you can learn from his success and mistakes. It was a nice relaxing day on the beach.
I'm whiter than the sand...

When I got back we stopped by the Disney Cast Member off site store, called Company D. I bought a nice used 27" TV for only $25! The store has all kinds of discounted new merchandise. They also sale things that were removed from the Disney hotels, such as my new TV.

Back to work tomorrow. Classes should be starting soon, so check back for those updates!

Hot, Hot, Hot, Hot Shoes

I had to get special shoes and socks for work. So I Googled the closest Payless Shoesource, grabbed my new bus pass (which I had to get replaced by Disney, because I lost my first one....) and headed down to the stop. I rode it to the next stop where I walked for about 20 minuets until I found the next bus stop. There was thirty minuets before the next bus came so I took a seat on the benches provided. Well there happened to be a homeless man who was shaving (yes, shaving) with water from a cup and mumbling away to me and some other fellow who was also waiting on the bus. He would say things like, "There is the bus, all aboard" when there would be not bus. When I got on the bus I looked back to see what he looked like. He had purple leg warmers on and had bright yellow short shorts on. He also had about 6 fanny packs on. Very classy.

Anyway, after riding for about 10 minuets it was time for me to get off. I spotted the Payless sign and headed in that direction. I looked everywhere; there was not Payless. Instead I found Food4Less, 98 Beauty, and a creepy CVS. Defeated I went back to the bus stop. I just spent almost three hours looking for shoes and I had nothing to show for it.

As I made it back to the apartment Jase got back from work. He asked if I wanted to go check out the special store for Cast Members only. It's called Company D and is filled with shirts and merchandise, as well as old lamps and TV from the hotels for super, super, super cheap. It was pretty amazing.

After that he took me to a Payless where he got his shoes. I bought some ugly, black shoes and socks. That was my only goal for the day, so I was excited.

Later tonight we went over to Disneyland Park to watch the fireworks, called Wishes, and Fantasmic! Wishes was narrated by Julie Andrews. Fantasmic! is a long-running nighttime show at both Disneyland and Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida. It has fireworks, live actors, water effects, fire, music, several boats, decorated rafts and projections onto large mist screens. It was a little different than the version at Walt Disney World, and I missed the stadium seating. However I still enjoyed the show. Here is a video of my favorite part  of the Disneyland version, Peter Pan (it gets good around 50 seconds).

Tomorrow we are exploring Venice Beach, so please check back soon!

Exploration Day

Knowing my timing is still a little off I woke up this morning finding it was super bright. Based off the amount of light that was blinding me, I guessed it was around 9:30. Boy I wrong, it was only 7:30. Lesson Learned: I need to buy curtains.

Anyway, today is a free day so we can explore the area. I went to Walmart via my new city bus pass. I took the bus as long as I could, then walked the rest of the way. It was a normal Walmart, nothing special. I did find it interesting that all the Walmart signs were in Spanish and had a very weird floorplan. Made it like an mini-adventure finding where everything was.

Oh I didn't tell you, I met one of my roommates last night! His name is Jase and is from Texas, but when to school in Oklahoma City. He's cool.
There is a housing party later that I'm not really looking forward to. However, I will be there because there will be FREE pizza and a DJ. I can't wait to show off my dance skills such as seen below at 3:15.

That's all my plans for the rest of today! Check back tomorrow, as I venture into Team Disney Anaheim to get my ID card made!
